Evaluation of HIV/AIDS sentinel surveillance system

This study is one of the Cooperative Agreement activities between Ha Noi Medical University and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

General objective:

The goal of this research is to provide scientific evidence in order to design effective strategies and improve HIV sentinel surveillance in Vietnam by using ethnographic fieldwork method and cross – sectional study in the selected provinces

Specific objectives:

(1)   To describe in detail the activities of HSS/HSS+ in the selected provinces

(2)   To evaluatedata quality of HSS and HSS+ using key variables, including representativeness, simplicity, flexibility, data quality, sensitivity, timeliness, positive predictive value, acceptability, and usefulness. These are the attributes of an effective public healthsurveillance system

(3)   To understand the strengths and weaknesses of HSS/HSS+ to explain the HSS quality

(4)   To provide recommendations in order to improve HSS/HSS+ quality
